IPC Media was a big winner at last night's BSME Awards, with four of its editors being honoured by their peers at the annual editorial 'Oscars'.
Golf Monthly's Mike Harris was presented with the award for Editor of the Year, Special Interest & Current Affairs Magazines.
Publishing director Hamish Dawson says: I'm delighted for Mike this award reflects his huge personal commitment to Golf Monthly over the last five years and is a well-deserved accolade on top of achieving market leadership with Golf Monthly earlier this year.
Wallpaper* editor-in-chief Tony Chambers won The Fiona Macpherson New Editor of the Year honour.
IPC Southbank managing director Jackie Newcombe says: I was thrilled that no fewer than 10 Southbank editors were shortlisted for the BSME Awards, which is testament to the incredible talent we have here and it was a fabulous moment when Tony was announced as the New Editor of the Year; an award he so richly deserves. Tony has led his team to new heights of creativity this year and the result has been the most successful year in Wallpaper's history. He is an inspiration to all aspiring and new editors everywhere, so many congratulations to him.
Wallpaper's BSME award follows hot on the heels of its success at Press Gazette's Magazine Design and Journalism Awards, where the title picked up a hat-trick of wins: Best-Designed Circulation Magazine of the Year (over 40,000 circulation); Best-Designed Title of the Year; and Young Designer of the Year for Wallpaper's Dominic Bell.
Ali Hall of Look was voted Editor of the Year in the Women's Magazines (weekly or fortnightly) category. I'm absolutely thrilled for Ali, says publishing director Julie Lavington. Her award is so thoroughly deserved.
IPC's fourth winner was NME.com's David Moynihan, who was presented with the accolade for Consumer Magazine Website of the Year.
"David has overseen a fantastic 12 months for NME.com in which our unique user base has doubled thanks to his steely focus on driving traffic and the introduction of a range of innovative editorial franchises, said NME publishing director Paul Cheal. I know that David will be the first to applaud the excellent support he has received from both the NME editorial and Ignite Digital teams in making this happen.''
