A SPECIALIST FIFE canary club that was originally set up by a group of friends in 2013 has reformed following a four-year break.

The London Fife Fancy Canary Club (London Fife FCC) was founded in June 2013 and held two successful open shows at the beginning and end of 2014. Unfortunately, owing to personal circumstances of one of the main officials, the club has not been running since the beginning of 2015.

However, the London Fife FCC is pleased to announce that it has reformed and has elected six officers at its first AGM on December 10, 2018.

Gary Macbeath from Rainham in Essex, who has been instrumental in the foundation and running of the club since its inception, has taken on the roles of chairman and secretary, while his wife Karen will be treasurer.

Mr Macbeath said: “We hope that this club will go from strength to strength and will provide a great annual show for those fanciers wishing to exhibit their birds.”

The club committee also includes Gerald Spencer as president; Terry Hardie as show secretary; Terry Cockburn as show manager; and Luke Harvey as assistant show secretary and show manager.

Mr Hardie said: “The main reason for reforming the club and show, despite the fact we have some brilliant shows in Essex and Kent, is that there isn’t one in London or any of the London suburbs.

“We’ve got the date for the show, the hall is booked and we have two judges engaged. All we need now is the support of the Fife fancy to turn up and help us put on a good show.”

The highly respected Richard Knowles and Andy Cooper will be the judges for the club’s annual open show, which will be held on October 13, 2019 at Aveley Public Hall, Aveley, Essex RM15 4EL.
