Above: For a £1 raffle ticket: Haith’s is giving one lucky winner a 100kg bag of seed of their choice

FOLLOWING ITS LAUNCH at the beginning of November, the Cage & Aviary Birds Grand Christmas Raffle had already sold more than 2,000 tickets as we went to press.

There are 36 prizes to be raffled off, including top-quality exhibition birds – from budgies and canaries to British and zebra finches – birdkeeping equipment and various brands of specialist bird seed. In fact, C&AB has been overwhelmed by the generous support from fanciers and companies.

Organised by Mid Essex BS in association with C&AB, the raffle will raise funds for clubs and societies around the country. Tickets cost just £1 and each raffle prize is limited to 2,000 tickets.

There’s a brilliant selection of seed to be won, with prizes from Haith’s, Johnston & Jeff, Bucktons, Bird Wise, Versele-Laga and Countrywide Seed.

Maddy Johnston, marketing & media manager at Johnston & Jeff, said: “We believe this raffle is a fantastic idea and it is a great way for us to be able to support and give back to those who love the hobby as much as we do.”

Both Haith’s and Johnston & Jeff are offering a 100kg bag of seed and the winners can choose a seed mix that is suitable for the bird species they keep.

Simon King, director of Haith’s, said: “Anything we can do to promote the importance of feeding a healthy bird diet is always on our radar. As is the opportunity to support the nation’s conscientious birdkeepers, as they are the backbone of the hobby we have worked hard to serve since 1937. May this bird raffle raise the kind of funds that help beneficiary clubs thrive.”
